Military Council warplanes bombed the headquarters of KNA 1st Brigade

Two air force fighter jets bombed the Karen National Union (KNU)’s 1st Brigade headquarters located in To Tal Khee village in Bilin township, Thaton district around 12:00 on November 26.

Phado Saw Aye Naing, KNU’s Thaton District Secretary told KIC, that there were no casualties from the bombing, but two buildings were damaged.

He reported that, “This time they bombed the brigade headquarters. They attacked twice and dropped a total of 4 bombs, but there were no casualties because the buildings were empty at the time, but the buildings were damaged. In the past they had attacked villages that were not related to our organization (KNU)”.

On November 7, a Military Council fighter jet bombed Baw Naw Wah village in Bilin township, destroying 5 houses and injuring 1 civilian. The Junta’s war-planes also launched attacks and frequently carried out reconnaissance flights over KNU’s Bilin township, forcing thousands of residents from nearby Lay Kay, Win Tar Pan, Kyauk Phyar, Myit Kyo and other villages to flee to safety, locals said.

A Myit Kyo villager told KIC that “When we heard the news that planes might arrive in the next few days, we decided to flee in advance. Almost every house in the village has only one housekeeper left. The planes often come at night, so some locals leave villages for the nighttime, and come back to their homes during the day”.

The Military Council’s airstrikes have been expanding in recent days. Apart from targeting KNU’s 1st Brigade’s Thaton District area, they have also been active in the areas of the 5 th and 6th Brigades.
