VALE – SAW KWEH SAY – 1973 to 2016 KAREN ACTIVIST AND DOCUMENTARY MAKER

Saw Kweh Say Karen activist, songwriter, singer, filmmaker and founding member of Karen News, died in Mae Sot at the age of 43.

Kweh Say suffered from diabetes and number of other health related illnesses in recent years. His commitment to his family, Karen related issues will be missed. Kweh Say worked with Burma Issues for more than a decade producing a number of videos. He also produced video for Human Rights Watch and a number of international media outlets.

Kweh Say’s worked focused on the human rights abuses carried out by the Burma Army against the Karen people. Kweh Say was enthusiastic to trained young Karen in video production through trainings. Saw Kweh Say is survived by his wife and three children.
