Karen youth provide security for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi

The National League for Democracy’s Daw Aung San Suu Kyi has a new security detail – 30 Karen youths from War Tin Kha village, near Kaw Mu Township, have volunteered to provide security for her in the electorate Mrs Suu Kyi is contesting in tomorrow’s parliamentary by-election.

A by-election observer told Karen News.
“The 30 youths will guard Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on the village road to prevent a possible road block. And also guard the house that she will stay in overnight.”

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will leave from the National League for Democracy headquarters at around 4:00pm this evening and will arrive in the electorate area where she will stay overnight near War Tin Kha village in readiness for tomorrow’s by-election.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi said she choose War Tin Kha, a Karen village, as she wants to show she cares for ethnic issues.

There are three political parties contesting the Kaw Mu Township by-election – Daw Aung San Suu Kyi from the NLD, U Tin Yee from the Democracy and Peace Party and Dr. Soe Min from the USDP.
