Karen State Chief Minister Daw Nan Khin Htwe Myint suffered from injuries in a car crash near Hpa-an on Friday, July 14 at around 7 AM as she was on her way to the birthday ceremony of Sayadaw U Pyinyar Thami, in Tuangalay, Hpa-an, Karen State.
The Chief Minister was scheduled to attend the 57th birthday ceremony of Sayadaw U Pyinyar Thami, who is also known as Tuangalay’s Sayadaw, whose birthday was widely celebrated by his followers in the areas.
Daw Nan Khin Htwe Myint was traveling in a white Land Cruiser that had its tie rod end failure when they reached to a Golf Course outside Hpa-an town, causing it to hit a roadside tree, according to sources close to the Chief Minister.
Only the driver and the Chief Minister were in the car – the driver was not injured by the accident but the chief minister had her left shin bone fracture and other minor injuries. She is now admitted to Hpa-an Hospital.
