Three Female Students Killed in Junta Drone Attack on Karen Bible School
A Myanmar military drone strike on a Christian Bible school killed three female students and injured six others in Karen State’s Hpapun (Mutraw) District, according to residents and Karen National Union (KNU) officials.
The attack occurred around 3:00 p.m. on November 3, when junta forces launched coordinated airstrikes and drone bombardments on Daebuno and Lelnerde villages in the Paykin village tract. Local sources reported no active fighting during the raid.
Witnesses said a junta fighter jet dropped roughly 10 bombs on the area before armed drones circled overhead, firing and dropping ordnance for nearly an hour.
One drone struck the Bible school compound in Daebuno, killing two students instantly.
A third victim died from her injuries en route to a hospital. Drones also dropped grenades on neighboring Lelnerde village.
“The initial strike was carried out by a fighter jet, which dropped at least 10 bombs,” said P’doh Saw Hto Robin, spokesperson for the KNU Mutraw District administration.
“Shortly afterwards, drones arrived and continued firing for about an hour. A drone struck and exploded at the Bible school, causing injuries and deaths.”
The strike follows an October 25 unprovoked aerial attack on Menuhta village along the Salween River, where junta aircraft dropped four bombs, killing a child and injuring two others.
Myanmar military forces have conducted large-scale offensives across KNU Brigade 5 territory since May in an attempt to recapture lost military bases in Hpapun.
The campaign has involved artillery shelling, airstrikes, and civilian displacement across the region.
