KNU peace delegation meet Burma’s vice-president

The Karen National Union’s ‘peace talk’ delegation team, followed-up their Pa-an ceasefire discussions with a meeting with Burma’s s Vice President, Sai Mauk Kham in the country’s capital, Nay Pyi Daw.

A member of the KNU delegation, Brigadier General Johnny and the Commander of the Karen National Liberation Army Brigade 7th area told Karen News about the delegations trip to Nay Pyi Daw.

“We are now in Nay Pyi Daw. We met with Sai Mauk Kham yesterday [January 13] night and he told us that he is happy with the progress so far and that the [Burma] government has in-principle agreed to the KNU 11-key points.”

Both sides have issued statements though both the KNU and government delegations agreed in principle the agreements have to be ratified by the KNU Central Committee and the government.

The KNU delegation team arrived to Nay Pyi Daw at 4:00 PM [Burma standard] on January 13 after a trip to Mon State.

The delegations visit to Nay Pyi Daw is the last item on their agenda and sources close to the KNU team told Karen News the delegation team would return to their Headquarter on either the 15th or 16th of January to hammer out the detail of the Pa-an meeting.
