Bomb blast kills Burma Army soldiers

A bomb explosion near Manban village in Kutkai Township, Northern Shan State, killed at least three Burma Army soldiers and wounded four.

According to a local eyewitness – a captain, a second lieutenant, and a corporal from the Burma Army’s Light Infantry Battalion 522 and 507 were killed in at least two huge explosions near Lashio Township.

“The bomb exploded when the convoy arrive there. I heard a big bang – two bombs exploded consecutively.”

At the time of writing no group has claimed responsibility for the bombs. There are a number of armed organisations operating in the area – the Kachin Independence Army, the Shan State Army-North and the Burma Army are all active in the region.
