Mya Phyo Ko, is still called the ‘General’ by close friends and comrades after he portrayed General Aung San in a movie. General Aung San is revered and acknowledged as the founder of the Burma Army. Mya Phyo Ko, career from schoolteacher to actor was disrupted by the 1st February 2021 military coup. In response, nationwide protests against the coup took place. Mya Phyo Ko took to the streets to lead the demonstrations and actively participate in the Civil Disobedience Movement against the military dictatorship. When the military began hunting and arresting protesters, Mya Phyo Ko made his way to a liberated area under the control of an ethnic army to join the armed revolution.
